Bunky Chollox testimonial for long standing team
member, organiser and anything else you care to mention Jon de Fraine was held
on the sacred turf at Shenley Leisure Centre. Players past, present and even the future turned out for a memorable night. Andy Moss, Ben Tranter, Gaz Davies, Lee Northend, Daz Johnson, Ian Baldwin, Richy Armstrong, Matty Rogers, Neil Biggs,
Richard Moss, Rob Herkes, Mark Rolfe, Les Graves, Russ Forbes, Justin Long, Sean
de Fraine, Mark Rogers, Ryan Pearce and of course Jon de Fraine. Carl Yeomason
missing - antenatal class! The 19 strong were split alphabetically (after some
time, think people need to start watching Sesame Street again!) into teams of
six, Matty turning up late meant blues had a sub. Gold's (Jon, Gaz, Daz, Ben,
Lee, Ian) played Blues (Rich, Neil, Rob, Mark, Richy, Rog) in a winner stays on,
2-0 win or 10 mins max type format. Whites (Les, Ryan, Jus, Andy, Sean, Russ) followed, many games took place with Whites being overall winners winning by far
the majority of games. Jon took his turn in playing for each side before he was
cheered from the pitch through a tunnel of his team mates.
With the exercise out of the way it was off to the
bar. Everyone settled down for a few beers, Craig/Shane had done us proud and
changed the Sydney clock to Dubai time - thanks chaps and the presentation
began. Sean presented Jon with a Class of 2004 Bunky's Team Photo and a signed
framed Gold Bunky's No.6 shirt. No.6 (Jon's number) has been retired in his
honour, no one (except Jon of course) will ever play for Bunky's again wearing
that shirt - a fitting tribute. A short thank you from Jon and a chance for all
to catch up and get drunk began. Surprise time from Shenley followed, Craig had made a PowerPoint presentation from young Jon photo's provided by his Mum and
Richy Cunningham photo's from Russ. Queue the big screen. To a background of a
Bunky Chollox Logo, photos of Jon young, old and embarrassing scrolled through
to cheers and laughter from all in the bar not just the Bunky's lot. So the
night carried on, players left one by one, till the last few stragglers and as
normal Jon remained. He collected his gifts and staggered to the car!! A well
deserved testimonial for Jon was enjoyed by all. Jon will be missed by all and
always be welcome home, thank you and good luck!
